Help With Audition
Hello. I was wondering if I could get some input, tips or advice on my latest audition to try and become a Bunny Studio VO Professional!
This is a recording done is a completely sound treated room , Large vocal booth using a Shure SM 7B Microphone through an Avalon 737sp Pre Amp.
Slight bass roll off EQ other then that completely flat
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

First off thanks for the feedback and taking time to listen. I truly appreciate it.
I am really confused by the "Boxiness" I have a really nice sized vocal booth covered in thousands of dollars worth of Auralex treatment including multiple bass traps. My mic is angled toward a not flat surface and about 3 to 4 feet from the wall. Are there any other suggestions to cure the boxiness?
Also I am using a cloud lifter with my Shure SM7b but I was using some slight compression to protect from overs on the Avalon. I will experiment with taking that out of the chain and see if I can achieve an even clearer signal path. I can sort of hear some hiss in the demo but it seems to be at an extremely low level and I am not sure if I am hearing the pre amp or my headphone amp volume because it is so cranked to hear the hiss.
Love the warm tea suggestion! My mouth does get dry out here in the Arizona desert so I will give that a shot and shoot you guys another audition !

Here is another crack at it with the Avalon compressor off, different mic placement and a take after some warm tea! Please let me know what you think! Cheers

Glad you liked this audition! I took your advise and disengaged the Avalon compressor and reduced the gain on the pre. I also moved the mic closer to the center of the room. Oh and I drank some warm tea before the read and then let it rip! I look forward to giving the audition another shot and thank you again for lending me your ears!

Strike 4 Hiroshi! LOL. This latest one has been rejected for boxiness and sibilance as well. I am at a loss. To my ears the amount of sibilance is well within the parameters of what would be acceptable and the boxiness issue that I thought we had figured out is still somehow an issue.
