Audition Rejection
Hi there:
I just received a rejection email from Bunny Studio that said the following about my recorded audition:
1. -There is \'boxiness\' impacting your recording which makes it sound as if it was recorded in a very small space. Please ensure you record in an acoustically treated environment. If you already have acoustic treatment, it may not be adequate.
In a link they sent me to (Tip #5: Basic acoustic treatment is not rocket science). In this article the first point is "Record in small spaces" "The smaller the space, the better as there will be less reverb and reflections if you record in a space that is more confined. Also, small spaces are easier to fill with absorbent materials making if you have ambiance noise. Small spaces can vary from rooms and attics to closets and laundry rooms."
I can't get much smaller than a 2x2 booth. I have carpet on the floor and moving blankets on all four sides.
This does not make sense to me.
I am in a small 2x2 stand up recording booth made with PVC pipes and thick moving blankets. I use a Rode NT1-A microphone, a scarlett solo 2i2 audio interface and use audacity as my DAW.
Any tips on what I can do to improve?
Thanks in advance!

Hello Scott! Thanks a lot for reaching out :).
To my ears the sample sounds fair enough. Although it has a bit of boxiness, I do think it should be good enough. However, let me discuss it with the QC team internally and I'll reach out ASAP with their feedback and comments in this regard.
In the meantime, may I ask you to kindly share some pictures of your recording space? That way, we can also discuss if there are any improvements you can make in order to manage this issue accordingly.
Thanks in advance and hope you have a wonderful week :)
