Hello Everyone!

Hi Taylor, welcome to the community. I don't work for Bunny but thought I'd try to answer.

I can hear your noise gate working and punching in and out and it's quite obvious, which it really shouldn't be. It needs to be subtle and should drop away to room tone, not total silence. I can't tell if that's what you've done already as I'm currently listening to it on open headphones in a noisy room. But even then, it's too obvious when the gate slams shut.
However, the more major issue I can hear (again, with James Bond in the background and my wife on the phone, through open-back headphones) is the huge amount of hiss and high frequency noise present while you speak. It way too much and I wouldn't know where to start as far as what might be causing it.

Other than your mic and interface (which are more than fine), what is the recording chain? Any processing going on there because it sounds like there is a lot!

More info on how you record would be great in case I can help more.

Hello Taylor! Thanks a lot for reaching out.

Also, I would like to send our appreciation to Dave for answering this thread and being an active part of the community :)

    Taylor:

I was listening to your audio and I do agree that there are some quality issues. Listening for the first time, it sounds like there is hiss/white noise on top of your voice. However, listening a little bit more in detail, it sounds to me that the perceived noises come from your mouth/ nose.

Also, the processing chain might be deteriorating the quality of the recording. Maybe you are applying a limiter/compressor in a way that these noises are more present and noticeable.

You would like to try recording at a different distance from your mouth to the mic's capsule. Recoding further apart might help to prevent this issue. Also, please make sure to apply less compression/limitation to your vocals.

If you are up to, you can send different samples through this thread so we can rule out what might be causing this issue :). For instance, you can send samples recording at different distances between your mouth and the mic, and also upload the raw samples and the processed ones so we can see if we can spot any differences.

Let me know your thoughts about it. Hope you are having an amazing week so far!

    Gabriel
