    Hello DC,

    Thanks for reaching out!

I was wondering if the file uploaded is the correct one, since this one does have very strong background noise (you can hear some crickets/insects as if it was recorded at night), also, the room echo is very present too. Room echo is the reverberation of a space, and the best way to deal with it is either treating acoustically the recording space with some thick, absorbent materials (like blankets, pillows, or even towels) or isolating the mic from said space by building a small booth or room that you can use to record in. Some pros have had great success using a closet as a recording space, making sure that it has lots of clothes and some treatment on the walls that can help reduce sound reflections.

Let me know if you have any other files that we can review!

    Kind regards,

    Daniel

    Hi Daniel

Thanks you for getting back to me again :) and for the pointers. I'm new to editing and professional recording, but learning with every step.

I've rerecorded and edited the clip. Do let me know if its better than the previous one and what else I can do to improve.

    Hi Debanjali!

Of course! I will do my best to help :)

I was checking the new file and the background noise from the previous file is mostly gone! (I think I can hear a faint dog bark at one point, but nothing very strong). On this one, I think there are two main issues. The first one is the noise floor, which is too high. It can be also called "hiss" or "white noise", which can be caused by many different things, let me share an article we have about that one:

    https://help.bunnystudio.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/203418064-Recording-Problems-Hiss-Noise

On the other hand, the room echo situation is a bit different now, it sounds as if the recording space was smaller than the previous one, but it can still be heard, it could be classified as "boxiness", which is similar to room echo but on smaller spaces. This means that you might need some extra treatment on the walls/floor/ceiling of the recording space. Let me share another article that addresses the room echo/boxiness situation:

Let me know if this info helps, and if I can do anything else for you!

    Kind regards,

    Daniel

    Hi Daniel

Thanks for the articles. They were very informative and helpful.

About the hiss, I think my current shure dynamic analog mic may be the culprit. Like we discussed earlier, once my condenser usb mic is here, I'll post another sample.
In the meantime, I'll work on my space to reduce the echo/boxiness.
Cons to living on a tropical 🏝 ... there is always a life around somewhere chirping, clicking, barking 🤔 😳 but of course that's no excuse. I'll see how I can soundproof further 😃

    Thanks and regards

    Hi

It took longer than I expected to get and set up my pro kit. Sorry about the delay. So now that I've changed my recording space and the equipment, the following two recordings should be better than my earlier recordings. Awaiting your review and response on that.

    Hello Debanjali!

I hope you are doing well :)

I was checking the new files and, although the voice sounds better, the room echo and background noise are still very present, at this point, the best way to improve the sound is to address those issues with either more acoustic treatment on your recording space or by trying to isolate the mic from said space using materials that can help, like pillows (I've seen pros with makeshift vocal booths with pillows that work wonders!) or even trying to record on a smaller space that is also treated with thick fabrics (for example a small closet).

Let me know if I can help with anything else!

    Kind regards,

    Daniel
