    Hi Luis,

Another voice talent here, not Bunny Stdio staff. I listened to the recording - what a great voice you have. I do hear what sounds to me like some very close order reflections - perhaps from a desk or computer screen near your microphone, plus some other reflections from farther away, perhaps from walls, floors, ceiling.... The reflections are faint, but I hear them when listening on headphones.

Can you post a picture of your recording space here? That might be helpful to Bunny Studio Quality Control team replies to your post.

You probably just need a bit more acoustic treatment to some surfaces around you.

    Best regards,

    Joe Brown

    Hi Joe:

Thanks for your comment , and involvement in this. I really appreciated.

You are right, I record in front of a screen because I read my script there. But heraing my own recordings I didn t find any reverberation but it seems I missing something. May be I need to read from an Ipad and cover the screen? I'm so used from so many years to read in this way... I read audiobooks for several publishers and I never had a complaint. But I want to improve my audios of course. I attach an image. Thanks again Joe!

    Hi Luis,

Nice setup and really nice large monitor! I wonder if you angled the screen so that it does not reflect sound back toward the mic... perhaps tilt it up some, or to one side or another?

I will say this about the Bunny Studio Quality Control team - they have forced me to become a better listener to my own work. Like so many other voice actors, I had done years - even decades - of voice work for other clients without complaint before I started with Bunny Studio (VoiceBunny at the time). And when I started with Bunny Studio I had quite a number of QC rejections. It's annoying for sure, particularly when it doesn't seem to be consistent. But it forced me to listen better and take steps to eliminate noise and reflections. My audio quality now is a lot better than before my association with the Bunny, and for that I am grateful.

You sound great and I'm sure with a few acoustic tweaks you'll be good to go.

    Best regards,

    Joe Brown

    Hi Joe:

I put in front of my mic one of this "accoustic egg panels"you see in my setup, but I was rejected by Bunny anyway.

I completely agree with you and this is the reason I want to do whatever is neccesary to improve my audio. If I achieve it, is in my own benefit not only to fit or satisfy Bunnies standards. So thanks again and I look forward to receive any comments from the QC team.!

    Hi Luis!

Thank you for reaching out to the community. Before anything else, I just want to really thank Joe for jumping in and giving some super helpful tips!

With that said, after reviewing your recording. I do agree with Joe. You have a great deep voice! I did however notice the reflections/room echo. Some of the reflections sound like nearby reflections that sound boxy while there is also some that sound much more like a room echo, like what Joe mentioned.

The boxiness may be due to the fact that you are in a booth with no proper sound insulation.
Please note that egg cartons do not absorb sound very well. Using some kind of sound-absorbing foam/panels is always the best option but if these are not available, I do suggest covering the walls, floor, and ceiling of your booth with pillows, blankets/towels, and clothing and facing the area with pillows/blankets while recording to help lessen/eliminate the nearby reflections. If you want to take it up to the next level, here's a good video about making DIY sound panels: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pABvTWSxOes&t=352s

For the room echo (far reflections) I do suggest checking the gaps inside of your booth as sound may pass in and out of gaps that get captured by your mic. Be sure to seal the gaps. If available, using a less sensitive dynamic mic may also help because they are less sensitive to background noise. I myself started using an SM57 and it definitely helped me with this specific issue.

If you are having trouble listening to these issues, listening in a quiet place and using professional headphones will help you hear them better. Most of the QC team use a pair of Sony MDR7506.

I do also suggest listening to Bunny Studio's pros for reference. Here is one of Joe's recordings which have great quality with no reflections/reverberations: https://bunnystudio.com/voice/samples/157958/

I do hope these suggestions help and I look forward to hearing your next sample!

    Best,

    Hiroshi
