Topher Lyons - Rejected Submission
Hello there!
My name is Topher Lyons, and I'm a glutton for punishment (aka I love feedback). I was recently rejected for both mouth noises and reverb! I have since read both the articles on those specific problems and have gotten some better treatment (which I am setting up today!) and have tried to make some changes regarding the mouth noises. Bunny Studio is strict! I thought I was on a roll with VA stuff, but then suddenly you get some negative feedback and realize you always need to improve. I do plan on resubmitting once I get things setup and try a few more things, so I want to know if there's any more feedback you all can give. I have attached my submission! (Google Drive link)

Hi Topher,
Thanks for reaching out to us here, and also for being so proactive in your approach to feedback!
What a fantastic attitude to have! :)
I had a listen to your audio attached. In all honesty, it's not bad at all. However, it's worth noting that on our platform, for people applying to North American, young adult & Middle Age categories the competition is high.
The platform has many pro's for these specific age categories and for this accent type. Therefore, this is why we are pickier, you could say, when accepting talent in these categories.
Nevertheless, about your audio.
There is some slight reverb heard throughout, which could be caused by hard surfaces close by, such as untreated table tops, computer/laptops, windows, script stand, etc.
Some extra acoustic treatment applied to it would fix this issue.
For the mouth noise issues, at 0:35 there is a loud sound heard, which sounds like you are swallowing. And throughout the audio there are some mouth noises - try the Granny Smith apple trick! Does wonders to get rid of any excess, (ahem, pardon the bluntness here) saliva, we, as people, can naturally get. Some people like to sip tea before a recording session, and another trick I've heard is gargling/swishing (just like mouthwash) with water.
You really did a fantastic rendition of the script and you have a very friendly, energetic great voice!
Don't hesitate to contact if you would like some further feedback, or would like to post your new voice recordings here first before re-submitting. Or, if you just want a friendly chat about voice over/audio things in general. (I could bore for England about all that, haha!)
Always happy to lend an ear.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Best wishes,
Samantha
Hello there!
I have completed another rough take, with hopefully some better treatment and less mouth noise! Would definitely welcome any feedback before I attempt to submit again!

Hello again,
There is white noise present throughout your audio, but in your first recording, this wasn't an issue so that's not a problem as you know how to get rid of this.
However, it still sounds like there is some slight reverb in your audio. Mouth noises are less present, so all good there.
What would be useful is if you can provide some pictures of your recording setup/recording space, that way I can identify where this 'boxiness', close-by reflective surfaces are.
Can you also tell me what gear you are using too? (Mic, interface, headphones?)
Look forward to hearing from you.
