    Hello Ann Marie,

Thanks a lot for reaching out. First of all I want to apologize for any inconveniences that this situation may have caused to you. I understand it must be confusing and annoying to get rejections while other recordings get approved using the same setup and recording environment.

I was listening to your last submission, the one that got rejected, and I have to agree with you that sounds good enough from my point of view. I'll make sure to share your case with the team  in order to avoid any misunderstandings in the future.

In case someone of the team has another detailed feedback in regards the quality and highlights anything that needs to be improved, I'll make sure to reach out and let you know. But as I mentioned above, the audio sounds good enough to my ears and there is no evident reason for the rejection. Please apologize us for the inconvenience and I will let you know once we have discussed your case with the whole quality control team.

Hope you have a great week!

    Gabriel

Hello Ann Marie! How are you?

Hope everything is going good :).

We discussed your case with the team and we found there was a bit of rumble background noise when you were speaking, and maybe your audios could benefit of getting a high pass filter around 80Hz to avoid this situation on the future.

However, we also agreed that the issue was not that problematic and you should be fine for next projects. If anything comes up please let me know and I'll be happy to assist you.

Let me know your thoughts about it and hope you have a fantastic week :)

    Gabriel

    Hi Gabriel,

Thanks so much for your email. I'd be really grateful if I could tell you how I'm editing and then you/your colleages might be able to guide me in terms of how to solve the problem and what to omit when I use the high pass filter arond 80 Hz

    The equipment I use is

     Mic –  Audio Solaris microphone,

The digital interface is Focus rite Scarlet 2i2.

    Recording software – Adobe Audition

    I record in mono, 16 bit, 44,100

When I'm finished recording I take out all the breath sounds, normalise to -3dB, use a de-esser and use a dyamic processer. I've attched a picture of where my settings are.

What shall I change? If possible could you explain when I should use the high pass filter and shoudl I omit dynamic processing if I do this?

Thanks very much for your help and time I really appreciate it.

    Hello Ann,

Thanks a lot for sharing this detailed explanation of your workflow :). It surely works to help you in achieving an amazing result.

All that processing is fine, the only extra stage you would like to add, and this could be at the very beginning of your processing chain, is an EQ with a high pass filter cutting from 80-90Hz down. That should resolve the issue.

I'm attaching a picture of how the EQ might be seen with the mentioned curve. Take into account that any regular EQ that comes with your software will do the work perfectly fine. Applying this EQ at the beginning of your processing chain won't change anything that you need to do later or anything that you are doing as you showed me. The EQ will only clean that low frequency rumble that your audio is presenting.

Please let me know your thoughts about this and if you have any other questions. I'm happy to help.

Hope you are having an amazing week so far.

    Gabriel
