Can you please help me understand this rejection.
I’ve been recording in the same sound booth for five years and never got this feedback. For my revision I moved my laptop out of the sound booth and did a complete re-record. The processing I’ve used has been the same for the last five years.
I recorded 3 VB jobs today and the other two were recorded in the exact same way. I literally recorded them one after another. I’ve listened to the original recording and the revision multiple times and can’t hear what you mean. I’d be very grateful if you could help me pin point exact moments where it wasn’t correct as I certainly don’t want this happening again.
This was the feedback
Hi,
Thank you for your submission; we greatly appreciate your effort.
Unfortunately, we won't be able to approve this recording due to the following issue(s):
-Loud background noise is impacting your recording and adversely affecting the quality of the deliverable.
-Your recording sounds undesirably over-processed, which is impacting the quality of the deliverable. It may be due to a noise reduction plugin, an EQ, or a noise gate, for example.
Thanks very much for your help

Hello Ann Marie,
Thanks a lot for reaching out. First of all I want to apologize for any inconveniences that this situation may have caused to you. I understand it must be confusing and annoying to get rejections while other recordings get approved using the same setup and recording environment.
I was listening to your last submission, the one that got rejected, and I have to agree with you that sounds good enough from my point of view. I'll make sure to share your case with the team in order to avoid any misunderstandings in the future.
In case someone of the team has another detailed feedback in regards the quality and highlights anything that needs to be improved, I'll make sure to reach out and let you know. But as I mentioned above, the audio sounds good enough to my ears and there is no evident reason for the rejection. Please apologize us for the inconvenience and I will let you know once we have discussed your case with the whole quality control team.
Hope you have a great week!
Gabriel
Thanks very mcuh for taking the time to look into it Gabril and for chatting to the team about it. I'm very grateful
Hello Ann Marie! How are you?
Hope everything is going good :).
We discussed your case with the team and we found there was a bit of rumble background noise when you were speaking, and maybe your audios could benefit of getting a high pass filter around 80Hz to avoid this situation on the future.
However, we also agreed that the issue was not that problematic and you should be fine for next projects. If anything comes up please let me know and I'll be happy to assist you.
Let me know your thoughts about it and hope you have a fantastic week :)

Hello Ann,
Thanks a lot for sharing this detailed explanation of your workflow :). It surely works to help you in achieving an amazing result.
All that processing is fine, the only extra stage you would like to add, and this could be at the very beginning of your processing chain, is an EQ with a high pass filter cutting from 80-90Hz down. That should resolve the issue.
I'm attaching a picture of how the EQ might be seen with the mentioned curve. Take into account that any regular EQ that comes with your software will do the work perfectly fine. Applying this EQ at the beginning of your processing chain won't change anything that you need to do later or anything that you are doing as you showed me. The EQ will only clean that low frequency rumble that your audio is presenting.
Please let me know your thoughts about this and if you have any other questions. I'm happy to help.
Hope you are having an amazing week so far.
Gabriel
