Delivering a flawless performance isn’t just about clean audio and a good mic: it’s about understanding and executing the client’s vision.
When clients submit a script, they often include specific remarks or stylistic preferences. These Client Instructions are your guide to meeting (and exceeding) expectations.
Strong Pros stand out by consistently mastering three essential pillars:
- Clear Audio Quality 🎧
- Outstanding Performance Skills 🎭
- Understanding the Client's Expectations 📜
When all three come together, you’re not only building a solid reputation with our Quality Control (QC) team, but also increasing your chances of receiving more Bookings.
Clients love working with Pros who grasp the essence of a script and bring it to life without needing several rounds of clarification.
Client Instructions vs. Client Preferences
Not every Rejection is about technical quality. Sometimes, the issue is subjective - a matter of tone, energy, or delivery style that didn’t quite match the client’s expectations, even if everything else was on point.
That’s why we make a distinction between preference and instruction:
- If a client simply prefers a different style after the fact, you’ll still get paid, as long as you followed the original instructions faithfully.
- However, if the instructions were missed or misinterpreted, a Revision may be requested.
Delivering based on instructions means tapping into your performance range and being able to adapt to different tones, moods, and delivery styles. If you’re ever unsure whether you can fulfill a brief, it’s best to practice first or seek feedback before accepting similar projects in the future.

Where Do I Find the Client Instructions?
You’ll see the full brief before you accept any project, right alongside the reward, deadline, terms, and other key details. Once you’ve accepted the project, the instructions remain visible on the project page at all times.
And just before you upload your final deliverable, you'll see a summary of the instructions again. In other words - there’s no way to miss them if you take the time to review the page carefully.
Reading and following the brief closely is one of the easiest ways to ensure client satisfaction and maintain strong Stats.
Want to Understand Styles Better?
Absolutely! We’ve created a comprehensive guide to help you get familiar with the most requested delivery styles on the platform, complete with tone examples and voice age tips.

Voice acting is a craft - and like any craft, it evolves. Many of our top-performing Pros work with coaches, test out new techniques, and continually expand their performance range. The more you experiment, the better you'll get at anticipating and executing what clients want.
What If I Get a Revision With Different Instructions?
Don’t worry! If a client requests a Revision that includes new instructions or changes to the original brief, you're entitled to additional compensation.
These are classified as script modifications, not Revisions/adjustments.
Here’s what to keep in mind:
- If you're unsure whether a Revision is fair, contact our CX team through the Request Help feature or email.
- If our team confirms that the Revision doesn’t align with the original project scope, the request will be canceled.
- In those cases, your Stats will not be affected - and the client will be informed accordingly.
